Tracking Feedback Trends Over Time
Tracking Feedback Trends Over Time
A single snapshot tells you where you are. Trend tracking tells you where you're headed. Learn how to use FeedPulse's velocity features to measure change over time.
Why Trends Matter More Than Snapshots
Most tools give you a "one-and-done" analysis. Upload a file, get insights, forget it. But businesses need to track change over time:
- • Did our product update improve NPS?
- • Is that recurring complaint getting better or worse?
- • Which initiatives are actually moving the needle?
Setting Up Trend Tracking
1Use the Same Project for Ongoing Data
Don't create a new project for each survey batch. Instead, append new data to your existing project to build a longitudinal dataset.
2Add New Responses Regularly
Go to Integrations and upload new CSV files, or let connected sources (Google Forms, Slack, Email) sync automatically.
Tip: For manual uploads, maintain a consistent schedule (e.g., first Monday of each month).
3Ensure a Date Question
Your data should include a timestamp or date question. This allows FeedPulse to segment responses by time period.
4Re-run Analysis
After adding new data, trigger a new analysis run. The system will recalculate scores and update trend graphs.
Reading the Trend Graphs
Once you have data across multiple time periods, you'll see trend visualizations on your dashboard:
Net Promoter Score
72
Upward Trend
Your score is improving. Check the AI summary to see which initiatives are working.
Downward Trend
Something changed. Filter by recent responses and check for new negative drivers.
Understanding Sentiment Velocity
Sentiment Velocity measures how fast the mood is changing in your feedback. It's the rate of change, not just the current state.
| Velocity | What It Means | Action |
|---|---|---|
| ⬆️ Positive | Sentiment improving over time | Keep doing what's working |
| ➡️ Stable | No significant change | Monitor and optimize |
| ⬇️ Negative | Sentiment declining | Investigate recent changes |
🚀 Best Practices for Trend Tracking
- Consistent cadence: Add new data at regular intervals (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
- Annotate changes: Note when you made product changes so you can correlate with score shifts.
- Compare periods: Use date filtering to compare "before" and "after" for specific initiatives.
- Export comparative reports: Use PPT export to show trend progress to stakeholders.
